Hapag Lloyd have roots back to 1889 and are often attributed to being creators of the first cruise.
Smaller luxurious expedition ships are the mainstay of today’s fleet. The itineraries are adventurous, varied, worldwide and exciting. These include: Arctic/North West passage, Antarctica, Indian Ocean, South Seas, Amazon, Far East , South America, Australia and Europe.
There are now a whole range of these expedition adventures created for the international market with full English speaking programmes throughout.
The fleet includes the Europa, the Berlitz Guide’s highest rated ship in the world at 5*+, the Hanseatic 5* and Bremen 4* with their highest passenger rated ice class hulls and fleets of zodiacs, and the 3*+ Columbus which we were lucky to see sail through Tower bridge whilst in London for a ship visit during which a meeting of the LCA (Leading Cruise Agents – http://www.thelca.com) was held on board.
Photographs of the Columbus can be viewed in our photo library. She is built to a design capable of negotiating the lochs of the Great Lakes and returns there next year for a most unusual itinerary through the Lakes.
